NIA is working together with schools to provide students with 35% more learning time, along with helping youth develop the social emotional skill-sets and leadership skills needed to prepare them for future careers.
As of this June, the funding that NIA receives from the NYC Department of Education’s Empire State After School Program contract with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services will unfortunately be coming to an end. NIA applied for continued funding, but it was regrettably not awarded. With that, there is no anticipated funding available for NIA to provide continued cost-free after-school services next school year at PS 185.
In order to provide an ongoing after-school childcare option in the absence of funding, we are able to instead offer a fee-based program, with a cost of $3,300 per child for the full school year. This breaks down to approximately $20 per day, or less than $10 per hour! The attached flyer includes information on payment options and how to sign up. Seats are not limited, but families are encouraged to sign up now in order to allow time for program staffing and planning.
NIA will continue to make every effort to secure new funding, and we hope this is only a temporary pause to free programming for PS 185 families. In the event funding is secured before the new school year begins and a free program is possible again, any fees paid to NIA will be refunded.
We thank you for your understanding and for entrusting NIA with the care and enrichment of your children each day.
Sincerely,
The NIA Management Team
